ART 10 Home Work

Propaganda comparison.

Through out time, as long as man seeks power and influence over his fellow man, in was other than force or violence. He has used art to convey messages.

By creating specific art pieces, filled with specific symbols or ideas of concepts, that his target audience can understand and interpret the message that the artist/organization is trying to convey to the people.

This has been effectively used in war, to give a sense of justification to a nation that the cause is good, that they are on the side of right and they have the might, and that the enemy or apposition is evil and weak and or a threat that must be eliminated.

This form of art and communication is called propaganda. Propaganda can also be used to attempt to inspire higher moral and work productivity or corporate pride in employees. It can also be used in the apposite manor.

Propaganda is also used to strengthen a current leaders position or to undermine it.

Propaganda is a ancient tool. The media and delivery may change and evolve, but its basic function will remain the same. Its one of the most powerful tools available to influence the masses with.

Some propaganda pieces are obvious, where the majority that we see today are very subtle.

The use of non obvious or subtle negative propaganda or art subtly poking fun at ruling bodies or persons, has been around since art was started to be used for propaganda purposes.

The pieces of art and media represent various forms of ancient, old, and modern propaganda.

The ancient roman statues depict the ruling Caesar's and strong powerful wise and gentle.

The anti-Corporate Culture Posters (my favorite) poke fun, and attempt to reduce the impact of the motivational posters which commonly decorate cubeviles, and other areas consisting of low to mid level office workers.

And also represented are WWI & WWII American and British propaganda posters use to inspire warn and control the citizenry

into supporting the war effort, work in industrial plants, conserve resources, and to accept a new culture of overt silence, and secrets from and within the government.

Also are included Recent propaganda Items regarding 9/11. Used to give a sense of unity and solace to the American people. And also inspire them to continue to support a war effort against a non specific nebulous enemy that may never end in our lifetimes.

Also art and propaganda can be used to convey awareness to issues and practices to a target audience. This is more commonly called advertising or marketing. All are forms of each other, and work with each other effectively.
